Clear Mountain Bank Lead Sponsor of Annual WGW Community Youth Cup

Posted on: May 31st, 2018

Clear Mountain Bank is proud to once again be the lead sponsor for the WGW Community Youth Cup.  Providing charitable funding for area youth, the WGW Community Youth Cup has raised more than $500,000 and supported over 75 area youth organizations in Garrett County.  Clear Mountain has been the lead sponsor of the event since it began in 2012.

The WGW Community Youth Cup is the primary fundraiser for three Garrett County youth charities: Landon’s Library, The Andrew S. Woods Memorial Scholarship, and Samantha Funding the Arts.  The WGW Community Youth Cup also supports many other area youth organizations including: I Can Swim, Garrett Mentors, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and many more.  In 2016, the organization helped roll out the Learning Beyond the Classroom Bus, which travels to local communities and provides children with educational tools and activities, groceries and healthy recipes, and other helpful things that keep kids on track throughout the summer. This bus has been extremely popular throughout the county and is providing vital resources to local children.

Founder, Bill Weissgerber, organized the WGW Community Youth Cup with Brian & Crystal Boal, Tom & Debbie Woods and Charlie & June McClosky.  They, along with their dedicated volunteer staff, are very committed to these causes.

Weissgerber said, “We are amazed and blessed to have the support and generosity of so many in our local and second home community.  I don’t think any of us ever imagined that we would be generating funds to the level we have. It just goes to show you what a great community we live in. Clear Mountain Bank has played such a large part in our success and we greatly appreciate their ongoing commitment.”

The event runs Thursday June 21 – Saturday June 23.  For more information or to sign up to participate in the 2018 WGW Community Youth Cup, visit their website.
