Clear Mountain Bank’s Jenkins Earns Professional Certification
Posted on: December 14th, 2018
Jeff Jenkins, BSA/Compliance Officer for Clear Mountain Bank in Bruceton Mills, recently completed the BSA/AML Institute, a professional certification program sponsored by the Community Banker University®, a part of the Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA).
Jenkins was awarded the designation of Certified BSA/AML Professional (CBAP). This is an industry standard recognizing individual knowledge of BSA/AML regulations and compliance best practices. To earn this certification, Jenkins successfully completed the requirements of a comprehensive BSA/AML training program and passed two certification examinations. The on-site curriculum and examinations were held November 14-16, 2018, in Dallas, Texas. Nearly 150 bankers from 39 states participated in the program.
The formal requirements for financial institution compliance under the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) continue to be significant. This program covers all primary requirements of regulation and delivers guidance on best practice expectations in each area.
Jenkins has more than 41 years of experience at Clear Mountain Bank, where he started as a bookkeeper, then computer room/data entry, to internal auditor to currently the BSA/Compliance Officer. He is a graduate of Fairmont State College with a bachelor’s degree in business. In addition to his recent certification from ICBA, Jenkins is also certified through ICBA as a Certified Community Bank Internal Auditor (CCBIA).
Outside of work, Jenkins devotes numerous volunteer hours to the Preston County 4-H program, serving as the organizational leader of the Lenox Loyal Workers 4-H Club since 2002. He is past president of the Preston County 4-H Leader’s association and currently serves as treasurer of the Preston County 4-H Foundation and Vice-President of the Preston County 4-H Camp Board. Jenkins is also on the camp staff for Preston County 4-H camps and volunteers on camp staff during the WV State 4-H Teen Leader Weekend at Jackson’s Mill.
A member and past president of the Kingwood Lions Club, Jenkins has lived in Preston County his entire life, growing up near Lenox, WV (Woolen Mill community) and currently resides in Kingwood.
